After support for ARCH_PPC was dropped, it became a subset of ARCH_PPC64. If you compile for ppc64, then you set the ARCH_PPC64 define which also sets the ARCH_PPC define. To be able to again support ppc (32 bit) those defines should be split up again. This commit only splits up the defines but does not introduce a working ARCH_PPC variant. The calling conventions on AIX uses function descriptors, which means that pointers to functions do not point to code, but instead point to metadata about them. When calling JITed code, we must assure to use function descriptors instead of raw pointers when needed. Before this CL 213504b9, all CallCFunction on AIX were guaranteed to have function descriptors. Starting form the CL mentioned above, CallCFunction can also Jump to a Trampoline which does not have a function descriptor, hence a new "CallCFunctionWithoutFunctionDescriptor" method is proposed to deal with this issue. This CL allows us to distinguish between the host- and target OS. The host OS is defined by V8_OS_ macros (e.g. V8_OS_WIN). The target OS is defined by V8_TARGET_OS_ macros (e.g. V8_TARGET_OS_WIN). V8_TARGET_OS_ macros are defined by gn, based on the `target_os` gn variable. If a V8_TARGET_OS_ is set, we also define V8_HAVE_TARGET_OS (this determines fall-back behavior in V8; if it is not defined, we set V8_TARGET_OS_ to equal the equivalent V8_OS_ define). Besides adding the defines, this CL also adds logic to consider the target OS in codegen. Specifically, x64 builds now look at the V8_TARGET_OS_WIN define instead of V8_OS_WIN or _WIN64. This effectively makes cross-compilation to x64 Windows in mksnapshot possible. In future work, we could add similar support for cross-compiling to other platforms such as ia32 Windows. This CL was generated by an automatic clang AST rewriter using this matcher expression: callExpr( callee( cxxMethodDecl( hasName("operator->"), ofClass(isSameOrDerivedFrom("v8::internal::Object")) ) ), argumentCountIs(1) ) The "->" at the expression location was then rewritten to ".". the problem is that we call irregexp code in two ways: 1. CallCFunction9 from CSA builtins 2. Through GeneratedCode::Call from the runtime. 1 is a standard C call and expects the target to be a FD, 2 is our own implementation where we dynamically generate a FD. So there's a mismatch between the two. https://crrev.com/c/1343709 fixed GetIncumbentContext to work with ASan, however, GetIncumbentContext didn't work well with MSan because MSan uses a simulator which supports yet another separate stack frame. This patch fixes GetIncumbentContext so that it works well with not only ASan but also MSan simply following the same way as v8::TryCatch does. i::GetCurrentStackPosition() solves the issue of ASan and SafeStack (native but separate stack frame), and i::SimulatorStack solves the issue of MSan (simulator stack frame). The "Address" type is V8's general-purpose type for manipulating memory addresses. Per the C++ spec, pointer arithmetic and pointer comparisons are undefined behavior except within the same array; since we generally don't operate within a C++ array, our general-purpose type shouldn't be a pointer type. This ensures that there is only one entrance point from C++ to generated code, hence only one method has to be excluded from CFI. It also introduces type safety by only allowing the code to be called with the right arguments. This CL includes minor drive-by fixes in the tests, like removing unused dummy variables. This refactors the list of redirections of runtime call targets that simulators maintain to be process-wide (as opposed to be per Isolate). Such redirections are used for static C++ call targets which themselves are process-wide, which makes this model a closer fit. Access is already properly synchronized via a mutex. Along the way this also introduces the {SimulatorBase} class as a common base class for all simulator implementations. separate JS stack. In exception handling, we need to be able to compare addresses into the JavaScript portion of the stack with the address of a C++ handler on the stack. Since the stacks are separate on the simulator, we need a JavaScript stack address corresponding to a C++ try catch handler in order to perform valid address comparisons. On the simulator, we now link the C++ try catch handlers indirectly through the JS stack and use the JS stack indirection address for comparisons. JS C++ handler [C++ address] <------ next_ \ \ \----> handler [C++ address] <------ next_ On actual hardware the C++ try catch handlers continue to be directly linked. In the shell sample don't print the result of executing a script, only evaluating expressions. Fixed issue when building samples on Windows using a shared V8 library. Added visibility option on Linux build which makes the generated library 18% smaller. Changed build system to accept multiple build modes in one build and generate seperate objects, libraries and executables for each mode. Removed deferred negation optimization (a * -b => -(a * b)) since this visibly changes operand conversion order. Improved parsing performance by introducing stack guard in preparsing. Without a stack guard preparsing always bails out with stack overflow. git-svn-id: http://v8.googlecode.com/svn/branches/bleeding_edge@16 ce2b1a6d-e550-0410-aec6-3dcde31c8c00
