This introduces further indirections for embedded constants and external references for builtins generated by the macro-assembler. The used mechanisms (LookupConstant and LookupExternalReference) are identical to what we already use in CSA. Almost all builtins are now isolate-independent in both release and debug modes. snapshot_blob.bin is roughly 670K smaller in embedded builds vs. non-embedded builds, while libv8.so is roughly 280K larger. The "Address" type is V8's general-purpose type for manipulating memory addresses. Per the C++ spec, pointer arithmetic and pointer comparisons are undefined behavior except within the same array; since we generally don't operate within a C++ array, our general-purpose type shouldn't be a pointer type. There is no good reason to have the meat of most objects' initialization logic in heap.cc, all wrapped by the CALL_HEAP_FUNCTION macro. Instead, this CL changes the protocol between Heap and Factory to be AllocateRaw, and all object initialization work after (possibly retried) successful raw allocation happens in the Factory. This saves about 20KB of binary size on x64. In order to clarify the difference between, e.g., InstructionStart and instruction_start, rename as follows: Code::instruction_start -> raw_instruction_start Code::instruction_end -> raw_instruction_end Code::instruction_size -> raw_instruction_size The difference between the camel-case and raw_* function families is in how they handle off-heap-trampoline Code objects. For example, when called on an off-heap-trampoline: raw_instruction_start returns the trampoline's entry point, while InstructionStart returns the off-heap code's entry point (located in the .text section of the binary). Some callsites were updated to call the camel-case function family as appropriate. There were two separate bugs here. First, a signed/unsigned mismatch where we took the result of PositiveNumberToUint32 and treated it as a signed int. Second, AdvanceStringIndex did not handle large input values correctly. Both are fixed by using uint64_t consistently. This ensures that there is only one entrance point from C++ to generated code, hence only one method has to be excluded from CFI. It also introduces type safety by only allowing the code to be called with the right arguments. This CL includes minor drive-by fixes in the tests, like removing unused dummy variables. This patch breaks out bailout reasons into two enum classes. This helps save 3 bits on the SharedFunctionInfo as we don't have to track the abort reasons. Change-Id: Ic2e7e7e32b0fa31491f1c6f0003a61390d68fd97 Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/848244Reviewed-by:

The irregexp compiler expects RegExpCharacterClass instances to contain at least one range. This preserves that invariant when parsing the negated \P{Any} unicode property. The unicode property escape syntax restricts unicode property names and unicode property values to consist only of characters taken from the [a-zA-Z0-9_] character class. See the spec at: https://tc39.github.io/proposal-regexp-unicode-property-escapes/ In most cases, we do not actually need to validate that this is the case, since subsequent property lookup in ICU will fail (and throw a SyntaxError) if the given property does not exist. However, there one special case. The ICU lookup takes the property name as a null-terminated string, so it will accept carefully malformed property names (e.g. '\p{Number\0[}'). This can end up confusing the regexp parser. With this CL, we explicitly restrict potential property names / values to the character set as specified. This reverts commit 10817205. While increasing the number of IRREGEXP regexp instances (vs. ATOM) gives us a 3% perf improvement, it also results in higher memory overhead. This CL is the suspected culprit for the recent 5x increase in OOM crashes from within regexp codegen. This patch normalizes the casing of hexadecimal digits in escape sequences of the form `\xNN` and integer literals of the form `0xNNNN`. Previously, the V8 code base used an inconsistent mixture of uppercase and lowercase. Google’s C++ style guide uses uppercase in its examples: https://google.github.io/styleguide/cppguide.html#Non-ASCII_Characters Moreover, uppercase letters more clearly stand out from the lowercase `x` (or `u`) characters at the start, as well as lowercase letters elsewhere in strings.
