JSFunctions can store a pointer to baseline code, which would trigger that code to be serialized in the context serializer. Since we don't support baseline code serialization, we have to flush these baseline code pointers. This is similar to the existing optimized code flushing. Code objects are exposed through JSFunction and SharedFunctionInfo. If they are builtins, we don't have to worry about background threads seeing partially initialized code objects. If they are optimized code objects, we may. Background threads read the code fields with AcquireLoad semantics. The fields are set on the main thread with ReleaseStore semantics when appropriate. Special care is taken when setting an optimized code object in a closure in the interpreter entry stub. Since the MacroAssembler doesn't support ReleaseStore semantics, this CL ensures that the optimized code object is stored with those semantics in the feedback vector, where the interpreter entry stub finds it. Scopes in V8 are used to guarantee one or more properties during its lifetimes. If a scope is not named e.g MyClassScope(args) instead of MyClassScope scope(args) it will get created and automatically destroyed and therefore, being useless as a scope. This CL would produce a compiling warning when that happens to ward off this developer error. Follow-up to ccrev.com/2552415 in which it was introduced and implemented for Guard classes. Create a HandleScope when serializing an object's contents, to reduce the number of live handles during serialization. There's only a couple of cases where these handles have to outlive the serialized contents, and for these cases we introduce GlobalHandleVector or similar manual strong root mechanisms. In particular, backrefs don't actually need to exist as a handle vector (the object addresses are already referred to by the reference map's IdentityMap), except for DCHECKs, so this becomes a DEBUG-only global handle vector. To support this manual strong-rooting, the HotObjectList is split up into a strong-rooted find-only class in Serializer, and a Handle vector in Deserializer. This relands commit 3f4e9bbe. which was a reland of c4a062a9 which was a reland of 28a30c57 which was a reland of 5d7a29c9 The change had an issue that embedders implementing heap tracing (e.g. Unified Heap with Blink) could be passed an uninitialized pointer if marking happened during deserialization of an object containing such a pointer. Because of the 0xdeadbed0 uninitialized filler value, these embedders would then receive the value 0xdeadbed0deadbed0 as the 'pointer', and crash on dereference. There is, however, special handling already for null pointers in heap tracing, also for dealing with not-yet initialized values. So, we can make the uninitialized Smi filler be 0x00000000, and that will make such embedded fields have a nullptr representation, making them follow the normal uninitialized value bailouts. In addition, it relands the following dependent changes, which are relanding unchanged and are followup performance improvements. Relanding them in the same change should allow for cleaner reverts should they be needed. Added scopes to diallow/allow GCs from happening using a DCHECK. It is stricter than DisallowHeapAllocation, since this also doesn't allow safepoints. As soon as Turbofan is ready, we can replace all usages of DisallowHeapAllocation with DisallowGarbageCollection. The partial snapshot/serializer/deserializer are renamed to context *, while the partial snapshot cache is renamed to startup object cache in line with the read-only object cache (as this better reflects where it lives and what it does). To avoid a gap in the file history due to renaming both the files and identifiers simulataneously, this leaves all the partial-*.* files in place. They will be renamed in a follow-up CL. We use the same interrupt to both allocate feedback vectors and for updating the profiler ticks. If there is a feedback vector already available, we just increment the profiler ticks that we use to mark for optimizing function. Calling JSFunction::EnsureFeedbackVector allocates a feedback vector, but doesn't reset the budget, so we optimize much earlier than expected. This is currently only a problem with %PrepareFunctionForOptimize that doesn't reset the budget. Other code paths do also reset the interrupt budget. This change partially decouples the heap's allocation space numbering from the snapshot space encoding. This allows encoding read-only heap allocations when RO_SPACE is removed. A few pieces of src/snapshot also get cleaner as they no longer need to check for extraneous AllocationSpace values. With lazy feedback allocation, using context independent interrupt budget might lead to performance cliffs when we have closures that do not share the same feedback (for ex: across contexts). This would be a problem even earlier but it could be more pronounced with feedback vector allocation, since the budgets for optimization is much higher (144x) than the budget for feedback allocation.
