This patch added an IsValid method to StartupData which returns a boolean upon verifying a given snapshot matches the v8 version. Embedders can use this API now to check snapshots' versions. This was originally done by Snapshot::CheckVersion, which now simply runs Startup::IsValid. This change updates some Torque-defined classes to include more precise field types where possible. It also updates those classes to use @generateCppClass. One field was removed because it's unused (PrototypeInfo::validity_cell), and two fields in StackFrameInfo actually became less precise because they're based on Script::name, which is an embedder-provided untyped Local<Value>. (Automatically generated accessors pointed out this bug easily.) This change also includes a couple of minor fixes in Torque. Add a new OffThreadObjectDeserializer, which can deserialize a snapshot into an OffThreadIsolate. This involves templating the Deserializer base class on Isolate, and amending OffThreadHeap to be able to create Reservations same as the main-thread Heap can. Various off-thread incompatible methods are stubbed out as UNREACHABLE in OffThreadIsolate overloads. There is currently no API entry into the off-thread deserialization, but under --stress-background-compile it now runs the CodeDeserializer (i.e. code cache deserialization) in a background thread. This replaces VisitMode with a set of option flags that allow skipping specific roots like unserializable, weak, global handles, etc. The advantage is that it is no longer coupled with the callers and does not know about different types of GCs and their phases. The CL is pure refactoring without behavior changes except for the heap verification where more roots are verified that before. The serializer currently cannot handle a heap state containing arbitrary compiled Code objects. As a quick fix for the --stress-snapshot d8 flag, we clear compiled data from the isolate prior to the serialize-deserialize-verify pass. With this change, mjsunit tests pass on x64. The %SerializeDeserializeNow() runtime function would require more work, since it is not possible to mutate the heap to this extent while still preserving a runnable host context and isolate. We will need another solution there. Drive-by: Skip the stress_snapshot variant except for the mjsunit suite. ... in order to exercise the snapshot/ component from mjsunit tests and fuzzers. * Since the serializer and deserializer can now be called at any time instead of only in a tightly controlled environment, several assumptions (such as an empty execution stack, no microtasks, no handles) no longer hold and had to be made configurable through SerializerFlags. * Root iteration now skips more root categories which were previously guaranteed to be empty (e.g. the stack, microtask queue, handles). * The %SerializeDeserializeNow runtime function triggers serialization, deserialization, and heap verification on the current isolate and native context. Support is not yet complete and will be extended in future work. Once all mjsunit tests successfully run, we can add a new test mode to stress serialization. The call sequence for snapshot creation is quite involved. Details should not be exposed outside src/snapshot. This CL pulls more details of snapshot creation into Snapshot::Create, which is intended to be the single chokepoint for API, tests, and other internal use. Now that PartialSerializer/Deserializer/etc have been renamed to ContextSerializer/ContextDeserializer/etc, the files can now be renamed hopefully leaving the full history available in code search. The partial snapshot/serializer/deserializer are renamed to context *, while the partial snapshot cache is renamed to startup object cache in line with the read-only object cache (as this better reflects where it lives and what it does). To avoid a gap in the file history due to renaming both the files and identifiers simulataneously, this leaves all the partial-*.* files in place. They will be renamed in a follow-up CL. snapshot.h is intended to be the public header for the snapshot component, and not the right place for private declarations. This moves them into a new SnapshotImpl class in snapshot.cc (previously named snapshot-common.cc).
