Since the mutability of HeapNumbers is determined by their owning object's descriptor array, we can remove the MutableHeapNumber type entirely, at the cost of a few fewer DCHECKs and a couple of TODOs to use the descriptor array information. This is a necessary step towards a follow-up which allows in-place Double -> Tagged transitions Design doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VeKIskAakxQFnUBNkhBmVswgR7Vk6T1kAyKRLhqerb4/ Bug: v8:9606 Change-Id: I13209f9c86f1f204088f6fd80089e17d956b4a50 Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/1743972 Commit-Queue: Leszek Swirski <leszeks@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Ulan Degenbaev <ulan@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Michael Starzinger <mstarzinger@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Toon Verwaest <verwaest@chromium.org> Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/master@{#63294}

Our {Vector} template provides both {start} and {begin} methods. They return exactly the same value. Since the {begin} method is needed for iteration, and is also what standard containers provide, this CL switches all uses of the {start} method to use {begin} instead. Patchset 1 was auto-generated by using this clang AST matcher: callExpr( callee( cxxMethodDecl( hasName("start"), ofClass(hasName("v8::internal::Vector"))) ), argumentCountIs(0)) Patchset 2 was created by running clang-format. Patchset 3 then removes the now unused {Vector::start} method. Mostly signed integer overflows, and a few cases of double division by zero (which is defined by IEEE-754 to return Infinity (or NaN for 0/0) but is UB in C++). In base/ieee754.cc, use constants for NaN and Infinity instead of computing these values. In spaces-unittest.cc, ensure that a large enough allocation is used. Strictly speaking there are some left in api.cc, but they are in deprecated functions with non-deprecated alternatives. Apart from changes made using tooling, this also modifies FieldType::AsClass to return Map* rather than Handle<Map> and converts its call sites to create the Handle when they need it - currently several sites immediately dereference the Handle. Also marks WasmDebugInfo as NeverReadOnlySpaceObject so GetIsolate and GetHeap remain usable. V8 knows heap numbers and mutable heap numbers. They have difference instance types, but in C++ code we've used the same class for both (HeapNumber). Confusingly, however, IsHeapNumber would return false for mutable heap numbers, while HeapNumber::cast would succeed. This CL adds a separate class MutableHeapNumber and eliminates the confusing behavior.
