... in order to exercise the snapshot/ component from mjsunit tests and fuzzers. * Since the serializer and deserializer can now be called at any time instead of only in a tightly controlled environment, several assumptions (such as an empty execution stack, no microtasks, no handles) no longer hold and had to be made configurable through SerializerFlags. * Root iteration now skips more root categories which were previously guaranteed to be empty (e.g. the stack, microtask queue, handles). * The %SerializeDeserializeNow runtime function triggers serialization, deserialization, and heap verification on the current isolate and native context. Support is not yet complete and will be extended in future work. Once all mjsunit tests successfully run, we can add a new test mode to stress serialization. The partial snapshot/serializer/deserializer are renamed to context *, while the partial snapshot cache is renamed to startup object cache in line with the read-only object cache (as this better reflects where it lives and what it does). To avoid a gap in the file history due to renaming both the files and identifiers simulataneously, this leaves all the partial-*.* files in place. They will be renamed in a follow-up CL. This patch replaces V8's tracing implementation (i.e., the TRACE_EVENT macros) with the track event base implementation from Perfetto. The advantages of doing this are: 1) This allows us to remove most tracing-related backend code from V8. 2) V8 can start writing strongly typed trace event arguments, which are more compact, easier to process and more extensible than legacy JSON-based trace arguments. For the time being, we still support the old trace macros when V8 is embedded into Chrome and other embedders. They were installed as builtins for historical reasons (see https://codereview.chromium.org/2222893002 ). But they're pretty much unnecessary, as they were mostly dead code, except MakeTypeError - but that work can be delegated to Runtime_NewTypeError. To avoid shrinking the unregister token map on each pop of the cleared cell list, the Torque implementation of the cleanup loop avoids shrinking the map until the end of the loop. To support that, PopClearedCellHoldings is refactored to the Torque PopClearedCell which calls the JSFinalization::RemoveCellFromUnregisterTokenMap and the runtime ShrinkFinalizationRegistryUnregisterTokenMap. The former cannot GC is and is implemented in CSA as a fast C call. The latter can GC and is a runtime call. This also incidentally makes uses of FinalizationRegistry without unregister token a fast path that doesn't have to leave Torque. If we want external people to stop shouting WASM, we should start by avoiding that in our own code base. This CL replaces almost all occurrences of "WASM" by "Wasm". The last remaining ones (in frames.cc) are in capitalized contexts where WASM fits. The spec was changed such that traps are not catchable in wasm: https://github.com/WebAssembly/exception-handling/pull/93 This CL implements this in V8 by adding a private symbol as a property to all uncatchable exceptions. It also adds a number of tests. Renaming the JS-visible identifiers and strings is left for a future CL. FinalizationGroup was renamed at Feb 2020 TC39, to better signal that if a FinalizationRegistry dies, the finalization actions registered with it may no longer be performed. Remove AstConsString "internalization", and instead make the conversion to heap String be on-demand with an Allocate method. We never actually need the heapified cons string more than once, so there's no need to do the internalization walk or do the next/string union dance in the AstConsString class. This also allows us to specify how we want to allocate the String at the call site. In particular, it allows us to allocate a flat SeqString rather rather than a ConsString. This allows us to avoid allocating ConsStrings which will just be passed to a flatten call, and especially avoid allocating dead ConsStrings in the off-thread old space. When ArrayBufferExtensions are enabled, sweep the extensions outside of the GC pause concurrently to the application. The following GC will make sure that the previous concurrent sweep operation is finished. This CL introduces Heap::array_buffer_sweeper() that is both responsible for tracking all extensions but also for sweeping. This adds a new API function that can be customized by the embedder by providing a delegate that defines contexts to be measured and reports the results to JS. A memory measurement request is carried out as follows: 1) MeasureMemory(delegate) invocation enqueues a new request in MemoryMeasurement::received_ and schedules a delayed GC task. 2) At the start of the next GC (that is triggered either by the GC schedule or by the delayed task) each request in received_ moves to processing_. Per-context marking worklists are created for each native context that was selected by the delegates (using the ShouldMeasure predicate). 3) At the end of the GC the sizes of the native contexts are recorded for each request in processing_. The requests move to the done_ list and result reporting task is scheduled. 4) When the result reporting task runs it invokes the MeasurementComplete function of each delegate in done_.
