Prior to this CL we regularly generated high counts of code dependencies, and installation was not the most efficient. This CL 1) implements early dependency deduplication and 2) simplifies the way dependencies are persisted on the heap through DependentCode. Re 1): we dedupe twice, once based on the CompilationDependency contents, and again once we know the final target object. Re 2): Instead of a linked list of weak fixed arrays per dependency group, store deps in a flat array together with a bitset of their dependency groups. Currently, IsolateRoot is both the address of the Isolate root and the base address of the pointer compression reservation. This CL teases the two uses apart by renaming IsolateRoot to PtrComprCageBase. - In addition to V8_COMPRESS_POINTERS, add a V8_COMPRESS_POINTERS_IN_ISOLATE_CAGE (vs SHARED_CAGE). - Rename GetIsolate* helpers to GetPtrComprCageBase. When V8_COMPRESS_POINTERS_IN_ISOLATE_CAGE is true, the helpers remain as aliases to GetPtrComprCageBase. - Rename kPtrComprIsolateRootAlignment to kPtrComprCageBaseAlignment. Introduce an IsolateRoot class, which encapsulates the root address needed for pointer decompression. This class is implicitly constructible from both Isolate* and LocalIsolate*, allowing us to avoid templating methods that can take both, or awkwardly creating a `const Isolate*` from a `LocalIsolate*` just for getters. To indicate that the Isolate* in getters might not be a "real" isolate, but rather a calculated one from GetIsolateForPtrCompr only used for calculating the isolate root, make that function return a const Isolate* and change field getters, Object::IsFoo predicates, and related functions to all take a const Isolate* instead of an Isolate* With this change, we can slightly more confidently use Objects that are in OffThreadSpace, without having to worry too much about having an Isolate* floating around that could accidentally be used. This is a slight abuse of const semantics, but it allows implicit conversion from Isolate* arguments to the const Isolate* parameter. utils.h itself is fairly large and contains lots of unrelated functions as well as having a fair number of dependencies itself, so this splits bounds checking and bit field operations into their own headers in base and replaces uses of utils.h with the more appropriate header where possible. (Also fixes some cases where other headers were previously brought in transitively). Instead of exposing a {kNext} constant to be used to construct the next bitfield, expose a templatized {Next} type alias. This ensures that the storage type is the same for all bitfields created this way. It's also shorter. Apart from the expected changes in the code base, the AST node classes are changed to expose a {NextBitField} templated type alias instead of a {kNextBitFieldIndex} constant. They thus follow the same pattern as {BitField} itself. Before: class MyBitField : public BitField<int, 6, 4, MyEnum> {}; After: using MyBitField = BitField<int, 6, 4, MyEnum>; This might reduce compilation time by reducing the number of existing classes. HeapObject::SizeFromMap() was too large to get inlined anyway. HeapObject::IsFoo() predicates should be implemented in foo-inl.h, because that's what they depend on. This patch also fixes up includes: dropping unnecessary ones from object-inl.h, and adding them in other places that previously relied on getting them transitively. This is an experiment as far as performance is concerned. If Smi-configured element loading directly from the dispatcher stub is fast enough, then we can stop compiling LoadFastElementStubs (and drop the corresponding code). Split the monster methods in JSNativeContextSpecialization into smaller ones, adding appropriate helpers. Improve the condition checking for strings and numbers using CheckString/CheckNumber when applicable. Also try to merge compatible PropertyAccessInfos, to avoid running into the polymorphic case whenever possible. Drive-by-fix: Don't try to resurrect dead nodes during LoadElimination. With the improve code generation for monomorphic loads, we seem to trigger the dead node resurrection. Native context specialization now lowers monomorphic and polymorphic accesses to data and constant data properties on object and/or prototype chain. We don't deal with accessors yet, and we also completely ignore proxies (which is compatible with what Crankshaft does). The code is more or less the straightforward implementation. We will need to refactor that and extract common patterns once the remaining bits for full load/store support is in.
