It's unfortunate that there is both a LocalIsolate template parameter, and an actual LocalIsolate class. Pass the Isolate/LocalIsolate through to StringTable matchers and WriteToFlat, so avoid having to get the Isolate via the String, and to avoid locking on the main thread entirely. This allows us to remove the String overload of the SharedStringAccessGuardIfNeeded constructor entirely, to avoid this anti-pattern in the future. Apart from removing Min and Max (utils.h), this is mostly a renaming. In a few cases I had to add a cast. In a bunch of cases I had to use initializer lists to force call-by-value for static member constants because call-by-reference wouldn't compile (like in the previous CL). In a few places I used initializer lists in place of nested min/max operations. Because of LocalHeap safepoints, our existing assert scopes don't necessarily maintain the same guarantees as desired. In particular, DisallowHeapAllocation no longer guarantees that objects don't move. This patch transitions DisallowHeapAllocation to DisallowGarbageCollection, to ensure that code using this scope is also protected against safepoints. This patch introduces a new LocalIsolate and LocalFactory, which use LocalHeap and replace OffThreadIsolate and OffThreadFactory. This allows us to remove those classes, as well as the related OffThreadSpace, OffThreadLargeObjectSpace, OffThreadHeap, and OffThreadTransferHandle. OffThreadLogger becomes LocalLogger. LocalHeap behaves more like Heap than OffThreadHeap did, so this allows us to additionally remove the concept of "Finish" and "Publish" that the OffThreadIsolate had, and allows us to internalize strings directly with the newly-concurrent string table (where the implementation can now move to FactoryBase). This patch also removes the off-thread support from the deserializer entirely, as well as removing the LocalIsolateWrapper which allowed run-time distinction between Isolate and OffThreadIsolate. LocalHeap doesn't support the reservation model used by the deserializer, and we will likely move the deserializer to use LocalIsolate unconditionally once we figure out the details of how to do this. Remove OffThreadHandle, HandleOrOffThreadHandle, and HandleFor, and make the OffThreadIsolate allocate "real" Handles. Rather than using the main-thread Isolate's handle scopes, these off-thread Handles are backed by a Zone, which is tied to the lifetime of the nearest OffThreadHandleScope. Eventually, we'll likely want to merge the implementation of OffThreadHandleScope and HandleScope, but currently the latter is too tightly coupled to the main thread to do so. A necessary side-effect is exporting the Isolate class in its entirety, to allow it to be used as a specializing type for ' HandleFor' in unittests. Currently, Number.prototype.toString(radix) often fails to produce the least significant bit for doubles near zero. For example, for the minimum double, 5e-324, toString(2) produces "0". This means that a user cannot reliably get the exact binary or hexdecimal value of a double from JavaScript using toString. This patch makes a slight amendment to the DoubleToRadixCString function, so that doubles where the gap to the next double is 5e-324 (i.e. doubles less than 2**-1021), are represented exactly in binary and other power-of-two bases, and close to exactly otherwise. It results in Number.prototype.toString producing the correct binary value for all doubles. This replaces all typedefs that define types and not functions by the equivalent "using" declaration. This was done mostly automatically using this command: ag -l '\btypedef\b' src test | xargs -L1 \ perl -i -p0e 's/typedef ([^*;{}]+) (\w+);/using \2 = \1;/sg' Patchset 2 then adds some manual changes for typedefs for pointer types, where the regular expression did not match.
