When we pass function arguments on the stack, untagged parameters "come first", i.e. are put to lower addresses / can be popped off first. So when a function instructs the stack walker to visit its parameters (belonging to its caller's frame), it must skip past any untagged parameters at the top of the caller's frame. - Renames StackParameterCount to ParameterSlotCount, to avoid confusion between slots and parameters, which are not in general equivalent. - Similarly, renames StackReturnCount to ReturnSlotCount. - Adjusts the result of GetFirstUnusedStackSlot to return one more than the last slot of the argument area, not including padding. - Renames GetFirstUnusedStackSlot to GetOffsetToFirstUnusedStackSlot to reflect that the result is an offset from callee to caller frames. - GetReturnsOffset is a little clearer, with adjustment for the different semantics of GetFirstUnusedStackSlot. - Renames 'optional_padding_slot' and 'first_unused_stack_slot' variables in Tailcall codegen to reflect that these are offsets. This is the final part of the tier-up commit series. It implements: - A prologue in NCI code objects that checks and acts upon the optimization marker. - Currently, handling is deferred to the InterpreterEntryTrampoline but this will change in the future. - The lifecycle is otherwise like Ignition-to-Turbofan; the runtime profiler marks a function for optimization, the next call to that function triggers optimization by calling into runtime, and the finished code object is installed both on the JSFunction and the optimized code cache. - The feedback vector's kOptimizedCodeWeakOrSmiOffset slot is currently reused for the mid-to-top tier up. With the new Turbofan variants (NCI and Turboprop), we need a way to distinguish between them both during and after compilation. We initially introduced CompilationTarget to track the variant during compilation, but decided to reuse the code kind as the canonical spot to store this information instead. Why? Because it is an established mechanism, already available in most of the necessary spots (inside the pipeline, on Code objects, in profiling traces). This CL removes CompilationTarget and adds a new NATIVE_CONTEXT_INDEPENDENT kind, plus helper functions to determine various things about a given code kind (e.g.: does this code kind deopt?). As a (very large) drive-by, refactor both Code::Kind and AbstractCode::Kind into a new CodeKind enum class. Fix arguments order when a call to a CPP builtin is inlined. When V8_REVERSE_JSARGS is set, the arguments should be reversed and the extra builtin parameters should be pushed last, that is, the input nodes should be located before the function arguments. utils.h itself is fairly large and contains lots of unrelated functions as well as having a fair number of dependencies itself, so this splits bounds checking and bit field operations into their own headers in base and replaces uses of utils.h with the more appropriate header where possible. (Also fixes some cases where other headers were previously brought in transitively). This changes the way {SaveFPRegsMode} is stored in a {CallDescriptor}. The value is now encoded in the flags field, similar to all other boolean properties. It removes the last mutable field from the call descriptor, making the struct fully immutable. The calling conventions on AIX uses function descriptors, which means that pointers to functions do not point to code, but instead point to metadata about them. When calling JITed code, we must assure to use function descriptors instead of raw pointers when needed. Before this CL 213504b9, all CallCFunction on AIX were guaranteed to have function descriptors. Starting form the CL mentioned above, CallCFunction can also Jump to a Trampoline which does not have a function descriptor, hence a new "CallCFunctionWithoutFunctionDescriptor" method is proposed to deal with this issue. The LinkageLocation currently consists of two fields, a bit_field and a machine_type. The existing equality check only checked the equality of the bit_field, which meant that a FP register location and a GP register location could alias. I added a static {IsSameLocation} function which checks that not just the bit_field but also if one of the two locations at least has a subtype of the other. Note that we do not check for type-equality because {CanTailCall} checks, which are the main user of the LinkageLocation equality check, should pass even if the result types are in a sub-typing relationship. Instead of exposing a {kNext} constant to be used to construct the next bitfield, expose a templatized {Next} type alias. This ensures that the storage type is the same for all bitfields created this way. It's also shorter. Apart from the expected changes in the code base, the AST node classes are changed to expose a {NextBitField} templated type alias instead of a {kNextBitFieldIndex} constant. They thus follow the same pattern as {BitField} itself. This removes the explicit {kCallWithCallerSavedRegisters} opcode which is just a regular call node with special handling for saving/restoring caller saved registers before/after the call. This is now handled via the {CallDescriptor::kCallerSavedRegisters} flag.
